Existing Process & Problems

The site currently relies on manually applied paint markings to identify steel billets. At temperatures up to 800°C, this method cannot support continuous automated identification and creates several operational problems.

Paint markings may disappear as the surface oxide scale flakes off, causing billet identification to be lost before rolling. Labels must then be applied manually after cooling, increasing the risk of incorrect labeling and material mix-ups.

Painted characters also lack standardized barcodes and cannot be read by scanners. Operators must verify billet information visually, which increases workload, slows production, and raises the possibility of errors during processing, inventory control, and shipment.

Solution

HEATPROOF HP-700T replaces painted text with standardized barcode identification, giving each billet a unique traceable code.

After the billet leaves the furnace, a robotic system applies the label directly to the hot surface. The heat-activated adhesive provides stable bonding at temperatures up to 800°C, while adhesion continues to increase as the billet cools.

The label is designed to withstand high temperatures, oxidation, and outdoor exposure while maintaining secure attachment and readable identification throughout the process.

HP-700T is also compatible with barcode scanners and machine-vision systems, enabling automated verification without repeated manual checks. Before shipment, each barcode can be scanned and matched against production records to reduce dispatch errors.
