Why conventional labels fail

Standard adhesives lose tack and flexibility at low temperatures, resulting in edge lifting, partial delamination or full label drop-off on small vials and injection pens. Frequent condensation when cold goods meet ambient air ruins paper labels, causing ink bleeding, wrinkling and unreadable text. Temperature cycling and abrasion also damage 2D barcodes, QR codes and serialization data critical for traceability.

Converters should also conduct compatibility tests with temperature loggers and prepare contingency plans for printing errors or material shortages.

The last-mile delivery phase poses the biggest threat to labels due to drastic temperature shifts and rough handling, so materials must sustain strong adhesion and legibility through all transitions. Any label malfunction may lead to shipment holds, regulatory probes and costly product recalls.
