Paint Patch Label (Butterfly Label)

Overview

ETIA's Paint Patch Label (Butterfly Label) is purpose-built for spray-coating lines. It combines a 2 mil white gloss PET facestock with a removable protective film, takes variable barcode-printer output, and resists stains and abrasion — balancing print clarity with process protection. It keeps a part's "digital ID" intact and scannable across the full MES process, from pre-treatment through spray-paint, powder-coat and e-coat baking.

Process Challenges

• After baking, labels lift or curl and paint seeps in under the edge
• Paint mist covers the barcode so it can no longer be scanned
• Removing the label leaves adhesive residue on the painted surface, needing extra manual cleaning
• Failed marking causes material mix-ups, disrupting part flow and quality traceability

Features

• Bake-proof, no paint bleed, no lifting: withstands 80–150℃ spray-paint and powder-coat baking; the protective film keeps the barcode and characters intact, so parts stay scannable end-to-end — no "marking dies after baking".
• Strong adhesion on demanding surfaces: a stable, powerful adhesive bonds firmly to high- and low-surface-energy plastics, metal and more — construction-machinery castings, die-cast aluminum and sheet-metal parts.
• Adhesive-free pull tab: peel by hand after the process with no tools; removes clean with no residue and without damaging the barcode or substrate, keeping data-read rates high.
• Built for harsh conditions: excellent abrasion, high-temperature and high-humidity resistance; a wide −40℃ to 150℃ range covers low-temp pre-treatment and high-temp baking. RoHS compliant.

Specifications

• Shelf life: at least 1 year at 22℃ (72℉) and 50% RH.
• Apply to a clean, dry surface free of dust, oil or rust — isopropanol cleaning recommended; press firmly on application. The pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds more strongly on heated surfaces.
• Run a small-batch test under your actual production conditions before scaling up.
