Protect the Barcode Through the Paint Line — Then Peel Clean

Keep the same part identification through spray painting, powder coating and baking — without leaving adhesive residue behind.

Paint Patch Butterfly Label on a coated component

A component can enter a paint line with a perfectly readable barcode and come out with its identification completely covered.

Spray paint, powder coating and e-coat processes create a difficult traceability gap. Paint mist can cover the barcode, baking can cause ordinary labels to lift or curl, and removing temporary labels afterward may leave adhesive residue on the finished part.

For MES-driven production, one unreadable label can interrupt the traceability chain.

ETIA's Paint Patch Butterfly Label is designed specifically for this problem.

How it works

The label combines a 2 mil white gloss PET facestock with a removable protective layer.

Variable information is printed before the coating process. During spray painting, powder coating or e-coat processing, the protective section shields the barcode and printed data underneath.

After painting and baking, the operator uses the adhesive-free butterfly pull tab to remove the protective layer by hand.

Key features include:

Typical applications include automotive chassis and suspension parts, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, die-cast components and other coated industrial parts.

The concept is simple: protect the identification during painting, then reveal a clean, readable barcode when the process is complete.

Samples are now available for production-line testing.
